Description
The Viking Pump 4624B Series™ is a purpose-built abrasive liquid internal gear pump that combines hardened wear components in every key contact area with unique design practices to minimize abrasive degradation and extend service intervals. It replaces the previous 4625 Series and is dimensionally interchangeable with those models. All pumped liquid is contained within the casing area, enabling superior flushing and clean-out between product changeovers.
Features
- Tungsten carbide idler pin and bushing: Ultra-hard wear-resistant components at the highest-wear pumping element contact point.
- Behind-the-rotor mechanical seal: Pinned-seat configuration with hard silicon carbide vs. silicon carbide faces; external flush line from pump discharge removes solids build-up (flush line not fitted on F and FH sizes).
- Grease-lubricated bracket bushing: Never contacts pumped liquid; re-greasable via grease fitting with a 25 PSI (2 bar) relief fitting on the opposite side.
- Pressure relief valve: Standard on all models to protect against overpressure.
- Rotatable bearing housing: Threaded adjustment for fast, easy rotor end clearance setting to compensate for viscosity or wear.
- Limited operating speeds: Deliberately reduced speeds to lower fluid velocity and minimize internal abrasion.
- Footed cast iron bracket: Provides a rigid, alignment-maintaining mount to extend seal and bearing life.
Performance
- Capacity: 0.75 to 182 GPM (0.17 to 41 m³/h)
- Viscosity: 38 to 250,000 SSU (3 to 55,000 cSt)
- Max Pressure: 100 to 150 PSI (7 to 10 bar) depending on model size
- Temperature Range: −40 to +300 °F (−40 to +150 °C)
Options
- Porting: Right angle 90° or Opposite 180°; NPT or Flanged (Class 125 ANSI)
- Drives: Purchased gear reducer (P), Direct-mounted (D), or V-belt drive (V)
- Mounting: Foot mount
- Sealing: Mechanical seal (Silicon carbide vs. Silicon carbide with flush line)
Applications
- Paints, inks, and pigment dispersions (including titanium dioxide)
- Filled polyols and resins
- Starch slurries and adhesives
- Waste oils with abrasive contaminants
- Viscous fluids carrying concentrations of small, hard particles
